Section 4 of the 14th Amendment requires payment of any "debt." Without a debt limit increase, other government payments may be withheld, missed or delayed but, under the Constitution, there can be no default on the debt. [Link]

Previous note incorrectly addresses the US debt ceiling as a constitutional process, when the 14th amendment, section 4, makes no reference to a 'debt ceiling'. It simply states that all debts incurred by congress shall not be questioned, i.e. they will be paid. [Link]

No House Republican is saying that. It's an on-going misrepresentation of a HOUSE plan, that POTUS has supported with a Senate document since 9/22/22. [Link] Tweeted the same unsupported claim for 5 months and is fully aware it's untrue: "I don’t even think it’s [a] significant"—[Link]
