In 2022 the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, sent $128 million taxpayer dollars out to various public radio entities. What is not clear is how much of that money came back to NPR as affiliate or programming fees. [Link]

NPR receives a significant portion of its funding either directly or indirectly from the US gov’t. It is supported by its member stations, however these many stations all receive funding by the Corp. for Public Broadcasting, which is funded heavily by the US gov’t. [Link]
