Sockeye salmon(right) also known as the red salmon because of it's much redder pigmentation, is one of the most common in the world. Faroe Island salmon(left) is a seasonal, premium fish, farmed in one specific part of the world, explaining it's high price and rarity. [Link] [Link]

Different types of salmon have different-colored flesh. Wild sockeye (right) are more commonly referred to as red salmon due to their deeply colored body, which results from a diet high in krill; but color is not the best indicator as farmed salmon may have coloring added. [Link] [Link] [Link]

The color difference is not due to one salmon being farmed while the other is wild caught; these are two different species separated by over 3500 miles and a continent. [Link]
