“Owned by” doesn’t mean the company belongs to Blackrock. Blackrock Inc. — a multinational investment company — holds shares of companies. In fact, Blackrock almost never holds the majority of shares. E.g. Amazon shares, of which Blackrock holds 5.8% as of Dec 31, 2022. [Link] [Link]

The tweet lists public companies that anyone can invest in. BlackRock is an investment manager for other people's money. They don't "own" these businesses; their interest is less than 2% (two exceptions: Microsoft / Apple at ~5%). Their ownership is publicly documented: [Link] [Link]

Being a shareowner is being an owner. Big enough shareowners can control voting for board members that can push through what is deemed “good”. Consumers have the right to boycott these actions by boards.
