Proposed note is, itself, misleading. The election in 2006 was the last election in Gaza, 17 years ago. Which means the vast majority of the Gaza population now did not vote or weren't born yet in '06. Using the '06 election to claim broad Hamas support is severely misleading. [Link]

The last election was in 2006. Hamas has not allowed elections since. 47.3% of Palestinians are under 18 years of age. It is disingenuous to claim that Hamas represents the Palestinian people as of 2023, as way over half the population wouldn't have been able to vote in 2006. [Link] [Link]

NNN Many of the proposed "notes" should be taken to comments. It is factually correct to say that Hamas was elected and have been in power since then. Palestinians and supporters obviously use protests but haven't to change leadership. www.x.com

NNN. That Hamas were elected in 2006 is a well known fact. President Biden is clearly not disputing this fact, but presenting an opinion about the Palestinian people.

A recent poll from the Washington Institute found that the majority of Palestinians did support Hamas to some extent, offering a different perspective on Hamas representing Palestinians: "Overall, 57% of Gazans express at least a somewhat positive opinion of Hamas" [Link]

NNN First of all, Biden is sharing his opinion. Now, last elections happened in 2006, median age in Palestina was 16 years old, 52.3% were below 18, these didn't vote. [Link] [Link] I2023, 43-45% palestinians are below 18 years old, these are not included in your surveys. [Link]

Palestine is a country under occupation, with a disadvantageous climate for governance. The majority of Palestinians were and are too young to vote when Hamas came to power. Nor are citizens directly responsible for the actions of their government.
