NYT has a blue badge ( [Link] ) this indicates they paid for the service. Official organizations should display a gold badge ( [Link] ) once they are verified. Some have indicated that NYT has never had the gold badge.

The WayBack Machine shows the NYT's yellow badge was removed on Aug 5, 2023. This loss of badging is not recent and therefore attributing recent events to the badge removal is misleading. Aug 4 (yellow badge): [Link] Aug 5 (no badge): [Link]

NNN: Yes The NY Times lost its gold check mark (Likely because they got it through ad spend and didn’t qualify anymore) and they only have a blue check mark now which is much easier to get.
