The article title is factually correct in that a scientist makes this claim. The scientist is essentially suggesting a microwave-powered reverse sear, which is a popular method to cook steaks. A scientist expressing an opinion does not make the article factually incorrect. [Link]

The headline chosen by the NYP here is misleading. The scientist in question suggests to cook the steak for 1-2 minutes in the microwave BEFORE then frying it. He did not suggest to prepare the steak in the MW entirely. “Put it in the microwave (...) Then you fry it (...)." [Link]
