You can't compare poverty rate like this in a meaningful way. USD5.50 in Ecuador will not buy you the same as in Argentina. Also, the data seems odd. World Bank (the source) doesn't use the USD5.50 indicator, but if you check other USD value, you don't see the same trend. [Link] [Link]

The most outstanding metric (Argentina’s poverty at 4%)in the graph a KNOWN LIE. During 2012, the official Argentinian metrics were heavily manipulated and ADMITED AS FALSE by next governments. Source in spanish: [Link]
