This post may be misleading and benefits from additional context. The job gains under Biden are largely due to the economic recovery after the end of the pandemic recession. Most of the Biden job gains (>9 million jobs) were jobs recovered as people returned to work. [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

Fact-checkers have repeatedly pointed out that, in the post-pandemic time period, "jobs created" claims can be misleading. Specifically, a large share of the 14.8M "new jobs" claimed here represent people returning to their preexisting, pre-pandemic jobs. [Link] [Link] [Link]

The 14.784M jobs created total is missing important context. The Jan. 2024 figure is 5.381M higher than the Feb. 2020 peak of employment before COVID-19 forced massive shutdowns and layoffs. It’s more accurate to say 9.393M jobs have been recovered and 5.391M created. [Link]

More jobs were created because Biden benefitted from the return to work from the pandemic. Biden may have gotten lucky on this fact but it is still a fact. Counterpoints should be made in the comments, not community notes.

Yes, part of economic recovery is replacing jobs that have been lost. This is true for *every* President, and Biden is not being held to a different standard. It's specious to make an exception only for Covid-related job losses, and an indication of bias.
