The Constitution says, among other things, that an election will be held any time the government loses a non-confidence vote, with a maximum term length of five years, barring war or a similar emergency. There is nothing in there that an election is "supposed to be" in 2025. [Link] [Link]

In Canada an election may be called anytime the PM asks the Governor General to dissolve Parliament. The maximum length of a federal mandate is 5 years. The October 2025 date cited by the original post reflects that maximum. An election could happen at any time before then. [Link] [Link]
