Merseyrail have their own conditions of carriage and not subject to those of National Rail, this has been the case for around 10 years: [Link] While you can buy Merseyrail tickets on Trainline, these are not eTickets so therefore *DO* need to be printed off as stated above. Most tickets for travel on Merseyrail can only be purchased as paper tickets. These must be collected prior to travel. Some tickets are valid for travel across Merseyrail but available as E-Tickets.
