While it is correct, that 12 Million Germans were expelled from Eastern Europe after WW2, this was mainly a reaction to the Nazis war and ethnic cleansing killing more than 30 million people in Eastern Europe. [Link]

This is a misrepresentation. Post WW2 Nazi rule, the German population had 2 choices: 1) stay and wait for the government to restart and reestablish trade relations; 2) Start life elsewhere. 60M+ feared persecution for voting the Nazi party into power and stayed in Germany. [Link]

The persecution of ethnic Germans after and during WW2 was carried out by the Stalin regime, and is not an unknown fact. [Link]

The post writer has simply stated a fact. She did not say who killed the Germans. Community Notes should not be misused.

NNN - Nothing in the comment is contrary to fact. WW2 is already mentioned in the comment. The claim/implication that most Americans don't know this is an opinion - whether historians know it is irrelevant.

cleansing 100% occurred, but term may not best represent ALL 12 million Germans. Many chose to leave or were expelled cuz they were Jewish. Also a mass voluntary migration to Israel as Germany attempted to recover. Also not clear to be "worst" case of expulsion. [Link] [Link] [Link]" target="_blank">[Link] [Link] [Link]
