This post is misleading by saying that it does not require a driver to pay attention. On Mercedes own website, it states that the driver MUST be ready to intervene at any time. They could not do this is they are not paying attention. [Link]

While this system is a joke, the post is not misleading. MB's site states the driver must be ready to intervene WHEN PROMOTED BY THE VEHICLE, so the driver doesn't have to watch the road at all times. Level 3 means the vehicle alerts you ahead of time, when needed.

Mercedes‘ DrivePilot is very restricted, e.g. only on highways, with HD maps, with a leading car, up to 37mph, in good weather. So, it is misleading to write „don’t require drivers to match the road“ as it doesn’t work/isn’t available in most situations. [Link]

The facts of the statement are not wrong. Argue about merits of L2 of other competitors vs L3 in comments, but don’t abuse CN to fact check an objectively correct statement. [Link]

The post is misleading. Mercedes' DRIVE PILOT requires driver readiness to take over, only works under specific conditions like clear weather, daylight, and on approved roads, not allowing full autonomy without road attention. [Link]

NNN, an autonomous driving system can be level 3 only in certain situations, the fact that it's restricted to certain scenarios doesn't make it not level 3. [Link]
