None of the reports cited for or against mention or take into consideration the cost of replacing a Tesla battery pack. That can range from $5-20k depending on the model, with degradation a constant factor. [Link]

Battery replacement is not a cost that would be compared when looking at Maintenance costs. If battery replacement is considered then so should engine replacement as both are just as unlikely as the other. [Link]
