This post is making a false claim. Legionary Centurions were allowed to marry while there are other cases of illegal marriage. Moreover, Luke 7 describes the same story but the word used to describe the servant here is "doulos" hence confirming the boy is a servant. [Link] [Link] [Link]

NNN. This is a fiercely debated issue within Christendom and the canopy of discussion sits under a wide array of interpretations and theologies, this post included. Disagreements should be commented on the actual post, not by misusing community notes.

To the person who said "NNN", there does actually contain a factual error about Centurions not being allowed to marry (Centurions were permitted, ordinary soldiers were not permitted) and the usage of doulos should be noted in the Lukan narrative. [Link] [Link]
