NNN - a USB-C cable can be made to only charge and not even support data. They all fit, but knowing what the cable is capable of is hard.

USB-C is the conector, not the protocol. Each protocol listed on the image is compatible with the previous one. This allows innovation while maintaining backwards compatibility [Link]
