No one will be "forced" to buy an electric car. After 2030 all NEW cars must be electric, but pre owned petrol and diesel vehicles can be purchased, and no one would be forced to change their current vehicle. This was a conservative policy until September 2023. [Link]

Labour will not force you to buy an electric car. There will still be a secondhand market for petrol & diesel vehicles. It is only the sale of new petrol & diesel cars that will cease in 2030. The Labour reforms have been welcomed by the IMI. [Link]
