Private Eye magazine investigated this and reported last week that they have spoken to Mark Matlock and he is a real person despite the image used on the campaign material. [Link]

The note is fine, the NNN is incorrect. The Private Eye magazine has satirical elements, but is a source of factual information and investigation focusing on politics.

NNN - Private Eye magazine states that they spoke with someone who claimed to be Mark Matlock. They do not appear to have met him in person or confirmed his identity further. Anyone can claim to be someone over the phone.

Still no clarity. Private eye spoke to someone. They haven't ascertained. But the point is why CN is needed for these posts?

Mark Matlock is real. He admitted that the picture was digitally altered so his suit would match the colour of Reforms colours. The link below shows Mark being interviewed by The Guardian. [Link]

“The Guardian has also learned that one Reform candidate suspected of being fake, in part because his official election photo looked AI-generated, is a real person…He showed the Guardian a copy of the original image, which was changed to make his tie a Reform light blue.” [Link]

The Guardian does not provide any image to support CN’s claim.
