Keir Starmer tweeted that GB Energy - a manifesto policy - would save families up to £300 per month on 19/06, after the election had been called on 04/05/2024. So in effect he promised better than freezing and a reduction in bills. [Link]

NNN - the OP is referring to false claims that freezing energy bills was a Labour policy. The proposed note is highlighting an entirely different policy, which is the intended long-term benefit of a publicly owned energy company.

The proposed CN incorrectly claims Starmer posted the average bill payer would save £300 / month. He in fact claimed £300 / year would be saved [Link] This makes the CN more misleading than anything suggested by the OP.

NNN. Stop abusing Community Notes. Labour did not pledge to freeze bills and the £300 figure refers to savings from insulation & energy investment over a five-year parliamentary term. The FullFact post is entirely correct and does not need a Community Note. [Link]

Throughout the 2024 UK general election campaign, leading Labour politicians made claims that a vote for Labour would not just freeze but reduce household energy bills. [Link] [Link] [Link]

The current shown CN claims that Labour said they would freeze household energy bills. None of the links provided support that claim. Rather they talk about reducing bills via GB energy and the energy transition. This takes time as they Labour said.
