NNN. Australia does require voters to identify themselves at the poll station on election day. The must say a name and address that matches the voter roll. Whether they registered or identified themselves fraudulently is irrelevant. [Link]

Nnn - Even though New Zealand doesn’t require you to show voter id, as a resident you must register to vote in order to vote. So when you register you’re given a voter id. [Link] [Link]

In Canada: If you don't have ID, you can still vote if you declare your identity and address in writing and have someone who knows you and who is assigned to your polling station vouch for you. [Link]

Australia has mandatory voting so it is less necessary to authenticate. An illegal vote will by definition be a duplicate and is easy to detect.

This post incorrectly implies the existence of compulsory Voter ID (as proposed by the House Judiciary GOP) in many countries that do not require it. Voter ID is not required to vote in: Canada [Link] Australia [Link] New Zealand [Link] Japan [Link]" target="_blank">[Link] Denmark [Link] [Link]" target="_blank">[Link]

People saying that Canada does not need an ID are completely incorrect. The person vouching for you must be able to verify your ID. "The voucher must be able to prove their identity and address. A person can vouch for only one person (except in long-term care" [Link]

In some countries on this list you need to show ID to vote, in most not, because these countries verify your identity otherwise before the election. Some countries use voter lists, or vote-invitations based on your registered address. Either way, you're identified.

People in Notes need to read what is posted. Austria is listed as needing ID, but Australia is not listed. New Zealand needs ID to register. Please do not abuse community notes just because you don’t agree with the post.
