LA, NYC, and Chicago didn't submit crime data last year. In 2019 approximately 90% of law enforcement agencies submitted crime data. In 2021, it was down to 63%. In 2022 the FBI instituted a new system resulting in even less precincts submitting data. [Link]

FBI crime reporting changes happened in 2022, so 2023,2024 crime statistics are based on similar reporting. Crime trends down when an economy improves, and also *reducing crime* improves economic development. The U.S. economy has improved since the 2020 Pandemic measurably. [Link] [Link]

The FBI data only contains crimes reported to police. Over half of crimes aren’t reported to police, and victimization surveys do show an increase. Context is needed in that the FBI data is incomplete, and doesn’t include all crimes data. [Link]

NNN- How else are you supposed to know if crime is up or down whether most of the data is being submitted or not? Brian just simply posted what the FBI released. There’s no other publicly available data that truly shows whether crime is having an upwards or downwards trend.

NNN - The claim from Brian that FBI statistics indicate that crime has gone down is only invalid if the methods of collection or general data has changed. That doesn't seem to be the case, and so the FBI data can be inferred to represent the entire country.
