Just in the last 12 years TS Mindy in 2021, TS Emily in 2017, and TS Debby in 2012 all started in the Gulf and moved almost due east. Several other storms and hurricanes have started in the Gulf and moved northeast to make landfall in Florida during that time. [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]

This isn't a common track for Western Gulf of Mexico Storms, but the National Weather Service has seen similar tracks at least 6 times between 1851-2018: 1871 Hurricane 1, 1877 Hurricane 2, 1885 Hurricane 4, 1933 Hurricane 5, 1934 Hurricane 3, 1983 Hurricane Barry Tracks here: [Link]
