India uses Electronic Voting Machines(EVMs), which directly display the total number of votes recorded for each candidate on the display panel of the standalone EVM's control unit. The EVM also has a VVPAT(Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail). [Link] [Link]

1 day hand-counting is standard in other countries. Voting and/or counting machines are not used and required for this. Example: Last election in the city of Mannheim (Germany): Polling stations closed at 6 pm and all votes were counted/results ready at 9:45pm same day: [Link]

NNN post doesn't have anything to do with voting method, only with time it takes to count votes. BTW many jurisdictions use paper ballots and still finish counting the same day, e.g. Florida.
