NatWest clearly state they require 24 hours notice before withdrawing anything between £5000 and £19999. For anything over £20000 they require 3 days notice. It’s not some conspiracy by “big banking”, it’s not that it’s “not your money”, it’s simple terms and conditions. [Link] NEEDS_MORE_RATINGS(15-2-60) Author

NNN - It's about the question the bank is asking, not about some period for "notice." Use Community Notes wisely, relating them to the actual post instead of making things up. NEEDS_MORE_RATINGS(21-1-4) Author

NNN - CN has no contextual relevance to OPs post. OP did name a specific Bank, and was not talking about notice or delays. We should start banning CN if they are completely off the mark like this. CN is a comment at best (and not a good one) NEEDS_MORE_RATINGS(20-0-4) Author

Banks have these procedures in place to protect customers. They are also legally obligated to document large withdrawals. People regularly get scammed out of large sums of money and often the bank has to pay out for that. [Link] NEEDS_MORE_RATINGS(26-1-47) Author

Bank can ask the question regarding withdrawal but you are not obligated to tell them what it is for. Often it is done casually and out of courtesy as often people can be the subject of a scam. If you deposit money on the other hand is when it will trigger report requirements CURRENTLY_RATED_NOT_HELPFUL(9-1-10) Author

NNN. OP is factually correct and expressing their personal opinion and experience. They did not mention which bank they were using and said numerous times in the comments that they do not bank with NatWest. People are abusing CN. Banks and financial service entities are legally obligated to have an understanding of the purpose of transactions, including cash withdrawals in order to combat widespread anti money laundering and / or financial crime. If there is no crime, there is no reason to be worried. [Link] NEEDS_MORE_RATINGS(31-4-58) Author

NNN - Clearly this is a personal experience and hyperbole to be humorous while highlighting a personal “issue.” Community Notes is solely for correcting misleading information, not to be passive aggressive because your account isn’t large enough to have a voice in the thread.
