Sharia councils are not “courts” in the British sense. A report for the UK Parliament states: “Sharia councils have no official legal or constitutional role in the UK. Their work consists primarily of adjudicating on religious divorces, usually at the request of women.” [Link]

NNN - divorce in the UK is a legal matter and therefore cannot be overseen by Sharia councils/courts irrespective of religion
