The rounds fired from the aircraft would travel at the velocity of the aircraft + the muzzle velocity of the rounds fired when referenced against a stationary object. When referencing against the aircraft the rounds would still move away from it at the muzzle velocity. [Link]

The SR-71 didn’t have a gun because it was designed as a reconnaissance plane that would outrun any possible threats. A gun would only be necessary for dogfighting, which the plane would never do, not because of any issue with the bullets as the poster tried to claim [Link]

Skilled Glacier Fantail didn’t account for wind resistance. On 21 Sep 1956 a US Navy F-11F fighter fired a burst of 20mm at Mach 1 & collided with the fired bullets. [Link] Jan 2019 a Dutch Air Force F-16 collided with one of its own 20mm rounds during a gunnery exercise. [Link]
