Deepseek can be run locally without an internet connection, which would prevent it being able to send any data to third parties including China. [Link] [Link]

Important context: While it's true that you can run it locally, DeepSeek very likely was trained on the CN sector of the internet that is censored by the CCP, hence the bias is included into the model itself. [Link]

Just because something is open source, it does not mean it is immune to "trojan horse" style of attacks. AI models are by and large sets of weights. They generally don't include specific code. However, since CN-based data was used, it would naturally be biased towards CN. [Link]

Community Notes claiming it’s open source therefore safe assumes all people will run it locally. When a vast majority of people will run a hosted instance and expose data sharing with Deepseek. The original post is a fair opinion and does not need a CN.
