The American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) is why the Capitol is accessible for him. Disability rights are civil rights. From voting to parking, the ADA is a law that protects people with disabilities. [Link]

The government policies for accessibility come from the ADA and have been in place since its passing in 1990. DEI practices are about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace not regulation regarding buildings. [Link]

NNN - DEI is an amorphous term, currently used by Republicans to label a wide swath of programs, including adding an “A” for accessibility to create a new “DEIA” concept. Notes referencing the ADA are irrelevant as the ADA is itself a function of previous equity efforts. [Link]

DEI is not literally the reason the Capital Building is accessible to TX Governor Greg Abbott. Wheelchair accessibility began in the 1920's with FDR, continued to 1950 National Barrier-Free Standards, Rehabilitation Act of 1973, & 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act. [Link] [Link] [Link]

NNN- the point of the ADA was to make spaces accessible to people with disabilities. Inaccessibility was excluding people from places. Accessibility allows them to be included. Diversity, equity and inclusion is an acronym for a concept, not a specific program.
