This is incorrect. Under the Harper Government, for a stretch of four years (2006-2010), car thefts were higher than Trudeau prior to 2022. Rates also did not substantially raise from 2015-2021, until 2022. Sources: Statistics Canada (Motor Vehicle Thefts 2006-2022): [Link]

Canada's 2024 federal budget announces an increase of the INCLUSION RATE for capital gains from 50% to 66.7%, not the tax rate, which remains unchanged. An inclusion rate differs from a tax rate. For comparison, in the US, the inclusion rate for taxable capital gains is 100%. [Link]

It is unlikely that any of the those considered middle class will be affected, it is calculated that 0.1 per cent of Canadians will be affected by the tax change this year. (only 40,000 people) In-order to be affected, you would need to make a capital GAIN of over $250,000. [Link]

NNN. The report linked, as admitted by the PBO was erroneously using incorrect calculations, which skewed their numbers. Add. "...both the PBO and the [independent] group of economists agree the majority of Canadian households receive more in rebates than they pay..." [Link] [Link] [Link]
