Montenegro does not anticipate joining the EU until 2028 [Link] Even after joining, they would not join Schengen immediately. Neighbouring Croatia only joined 10 years after EU membership, in 2023. [Link] Finally, right to work in other EU countries comes with citizenship, not residency.

This thread makes it appear as the UK regulator has approved Meta’s approach but European regulators have not. The UK regulator has confirmed that while they provided feedback they have not endorsed Meta’s plan to be compliant with data protection law. [Link]

Even if the law was interpreted to include indirect emotional response for the purpose of user interface design, which would be up to a court, it is not “already” illegal, as those sections of the law do not commence until 2 Feb 2025. [Link]

Nothing in the report indicates this is set to cost HMRC ‘billions’. The reporting focuses on the fact that only richer schools that have made recent large capital expenditures — not nearly in the magnitude of ‘billions’ of VAT paid — can offset against some past VAT. [Link]
